Description: This course will teach students how to layout various architectural fittings. The students will layout and fabricate a variety of fittings using pattern development techniques such as triangulation, parallel line and radial line development. A few of the projects will include OG leader heads, Gutter miters, chimney saddles, and cornice miters on various angles. Students will learn the accuracy and the speed of calculator layout.
Description: This course will have students learning the integral parts of a roof system. As part of this process they will learn water proofing the top and interior wall of a parapet with sheet metal. Student will fabricate and install wall flashing specific to the roof. Understanding the different types of roof systems dictates specifically how to design flashings for keeping a building dry. Students will learn how water flow effects the installation of sheet metal flashings.
Description: Students are taught many of the specialties contained within Architectural Sheet Metal. They are exposed to restoration work, including many of the special finishes that exist. They get hands on applying some of the custom finishes that can be applied to metals, such as patina. The students get to work with different types of metal during this course.
Description: This course will have students learning the integral parts of wall systems. As part of this process they will learn water proofing an exterior wall starting with a moister barrier. Fabrication and installation of specific wall panels based on manufactures specifications. In some cases pre-manufactured panels will be used.
Description: This course includes a project welded in the GTAW process. A corner and square groove seam (flat seam) will be welded and polished to a #4 finish. Lessons will include different method of controlling warping and shrinkage of the welded seam. Materials used will be mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
Description: This 2 night course will give participants an opportunity to learn the fundamental basics of layout as it pertains to interior architectural. Items that will be covered will be basic layout of handrails and guardrails. Countertop layout will also be covered. Lastly, we will go over some basic layout principles as it relates to measuring for and installing metal trim and base when you do not have a good substrate to mount to or to measure from.
